Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using proper technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the other person.

MMA

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) combines various combat techniques, including striking, grappling, and submissions from disciplines like boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Fighters train in all aspects of combat, blending speed, power, technique, and strategy to outmaneuver opponents in both standing and ground positions.

Sambo

Sambo is a Russian martial art that combines elements of judo and wrestling, emphasizing fast, powerful throws, joint locks, and ground control. It teaches practitioners to defend against opponents through explosive movements, using an opponent's strength and momentum against them, making it a versatile system for self-defense and competition.

Muay Thai Kickboxing

Muay Thai, known as the "Art of Eight Limbs," utilizes fists, elbows, knees, and shins to strike an opponent from all angles. It’s a dynamic striking art focused on powerful, devastating attacks and clinch work, offering a highly effective combat system for both self-defense and competitive fighting.

JUDO

Judo focuses on using an opponent's force to gain leverage, relying on throws, pins, and joint locks to control and submit an opponent. It emphasizes balance, timing, and precision, teaching students to use technique over strength, making it effective for self-defense and a foundational discipline for other grappling arts.

Jonathan Reynolds

Buffalo United is the premier training facility in WNY. Not only does it have a great cultural mix of friendly people from all walks of life, but the training is second to none, and technically sound. I always refer to it as a BJJ Laboratory. I’ve been to a good amount of academies and this one surpasses them all. The professors are there to give all they can to make everyone better from casual to competitor
